Downtown Wilmington is an attractive business center and home to the arts, fine dining and entertainment amid three centuries of historic architecture along the scenic Cape Fear River. The area has much to offer including eclectic shopping, a vibrant nightlife, theatrical productions, and outstanding restaurants. Just minutes away, you'll find excellent golf courses, parks, a state university, more first-rate restaurants, retailers, and beautiful beaches.
In addition to the currently established riverfront district, there are also numerous projects underway and in planning stages within blocks of The Elbow development, which will be located on the southwest corner of North 4th and Davis Street in the thriving Brooklyn Arts District.
At the base of Hanover Street, the City of Wilmington has started the construction of a 137,000 square foot Convention Center, and is facilitating the private development of a hotel with 225 to 275 rooms. Additionally, work has already begun for a riverfront marina and 100 town homes just north of the PPD building. A second marina has been approved between the Convention Center and PPD Headquarters. This is an exciting time for downtown Wilmington!
